About us

Ferrette Crest

We are an English Morris side performing dances from the Cotswold traditions, in particular Bucknell, Bleddington and Fieldtown.

The village of Ferrette is in the Sundgau (southern part of the Alsace, France) about 24km south-west of Basel, Switzerland. We practise in Leymen in France on Wednesday evenings.

History

Oldest picture of Ferrette Kit

Ferrette Morris was established in September 2003 to perform dances in the Cotswold tradition, initially with the intention of dancing at the Fête de la musique, which always takes place in Ferrette on the longest day of the year.

Every two years we host a visiting side for our Three Countries Tour. Kennet Morris Men joined us in 2004, Windsor Morris in 2006 and Owlswick in 2008.

We have also danced in England on several occasions, once at the Sidmouth Folk Week (2005), twice in Woodbridge, Suffolk (2007 and 2008) and with Owlswick on a tour of the Cotswold villages in 2009.
